OsteoSymbionics’ unique pairing of analog design techniques with cutting-edge digital tools results in implants with precise fit. Software such as the Freeform® 3DOrganic Design System from technology company Sensable is frequently used by the company’s medical engineers.
In a press release dated October 27, 2011, Sensable highlights their involvement in the 2011 American Association of Maxillofacial Prosthetics annual conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. The conference spotlighted custom maxillofacial implants created with the Freeform® 3D modeling and design system, including those made by OsteoSymbionics.
The press release quotes CEO Cynthia Brogan, "With FreeForm®, our team can create our ClearShield™ craniofacial implants at least 50 percent faster, moving from an STL file created from a patient-specific CT scan, through to completed design a 3D model in as little as a week."
